The Ridington/Dane-zaa Digital Archive

Dane-zaa people have had generations of prophets, dreamkeepers, and songkeepers. Their knowledge, history, and culture can be seen in the songs, stories, and images contained in this archive.

The archive is divided into four areas:

Click the links above to find indexes and selected digital copies of photographs, audio recordings, video recordings and text documents collected by anthropologist Dr. Robin Ridington, Jillian Ridington and colleagues since 1964 during the course of their fieldwork with four Dane-zaa communities of northeastern British Columbia: The Blueberry River, Doig River, Halfway River and Prophet River First Nations.

This database is administered by the Doig River Dane-zaa First Nation.

"Doig River First Nation has a strong vision for our future. This vision includes preserving our culture, traditional knowledge, stories, and songs to pass along to future generations. This site will also encourage fellow First Nations to share their history and knowledge for educational purposes."
