“Your work is to discover your work and then with all your heart to give yourself to it” - Buddha Quote of the Day

Editor of the Harbour Spiel. History of Pender Harbour and Egmont. History is a hobby of hers. Shared a lot her knowledge originally, old timers are very interested. She has a lot of photos and memorabilia. Has interviewed some of the pioneers.

The community has lost a lot of character from the influx of new people. Old timers are dying, commercial fishing and logging is dying too and working people are being forced to leave. New people are starting their own orgs. Change is rapid.

She blames regional governments, cause there is no provision for expansion, industry, that would keep the community alive. How do you support.

She believes that the Burt McKay? collection is the museum of Pender Harbour. He is happy to show people around, talk about the collection.

Any information about the history of Pender Harbour, any of the old families, she has been researching this for years.

She has transcribed interviews, tapes, correspondance. She will not give this collection to museum outside of Pender Harbour.

Three very detailed family trees, all the original familes.

Joe Gonsalves (Potugese Joe) came to PH in late 1800, is given credit for strating community, built hotel and dock. The thrid property owner in the area. Came from Stanley Park where he was a homesteader, claimed Brockton Point, expropriated by BC Gov, but he didn't get compensenated. Silvi family battled him for it.

[Jane Reid]? 883-9078 (her husband's GGrandfather? was Joe) cause they were interested in opening case again. She did a lot of research on the Has transcripts of original Supreme Court case.

Do we want to include Nelson Island, Egmont, Texada? Everyone came to PH for business, hospital, school.
